Why make something that’s 99% cosmetic, and a selling point of the expansion one of those things too? Just make the damn races unlocked at the start. They give you so much to grind and work for: mounts, pets, titles, achievements, better gear, transmog stuff, mythic runs, etc. I’ve seen a lot of players defend the model, usually with the argument of “oh we’ll be thankful that Blizz is giving you something to work for and keep you playing”. WoW is literally the only MMO that locks characters you paid for behind a grind wall. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous, especially for races from a previous expansion.

You’re paying $50 for the opportunity to grind daily quests to eventually unlock those races.

They use the allied races as a marketing piece when promoting the expansions, but you aren’t even paying that $50 to get those races. That being said I honestly find it extremely aggravating that allied races are locked behind this obnoxiously excessive rep grind wall. Nightborne in particular you get a lot of rep from the “Insurrection” achievement storyline. I noticed that I was getting a lot of 250-250 rep gains especially from the latter two. It does seem like the generally increased the rep gained from quests/world quests/legion invasions though. As someone who also doubled back to legion content as soon as I hit 120, there really isn’t anything in the way of rep tokens or boosts or anything.
